Before Covid hit it was a tradition for many of us to meet up at Grandma’s Pub after racing. Now with the loosened restrictions I think many of us would like to again enjoy an after race beer/coffee/chat. Last Sunday, after our very wet blustery race, we had about 25 people show up at the Gibsons Market for a very enjoyable natter. We had planned to have a discussion at that meeting about a whole lot of subjects but were prevented from doing so because one could not hear much given the general hubbub. We had hoped to rent the more private upstairs meeting room at the Market but it was already rented that afternoon. So I want to let you know that for a future meeting we will rent that room. We’ll let everyone know by email.

We send emails on Saturday mornings with a reminder of the Sunday race (or sometimes a cancellation due to bad weather) and on Sundays we send emails with race results. These emails usually go out to our “Racers” list composed of Members and Associates and some others who regularly crew. On occasion we send out emails of more general interest to a bigger list which includes not only “Racers” but also people who may have been past members or who have simply asked to be on our list - we call this our “All” list. We’re currently updating our email lists so if you are getting emails from us that you don’t want, or conversely if you want to be added to one of the above lists, please let us know. Thanks, Dave

We’ve just updated the 2022 calendar - you can see it by checking the link on the website home page. Besides our normal four race series we want to have more special events. At the moment the proposed events are: - at the end of May a longer out and back race race, perhaps up to the White Islets, or to the fairway buoy at the entrance the English Bay. Another possibility would be sailing around Bowen Island with an overnight in Snug Cove. The only problem with that is that Covid exposure with a marina overnight may be a showstopper. - at the end of July a raft-up picnic in, say, Centre Bay on Gambier Island with a race there and back. - in September a repeat of the Halibut Bank race. if you have any comments of other suggestions do let us know.
