Welcome to the Sunshine Coast Yacht Club, a sailboat racing club operating from beautiful Gibsons on the Sunshine Coast of B.C.

Our purpose is to facilitate regular races, and special events for sailors of all levels of expertise.

While we sail in a spirit of friendly competition, our number one objective is for skippers and crew to enjoy being out there!

Membership is affordable - see the Membership page.

Come and try us out - on race days, usually Sunday, we meet on shore at Gibsons Marina at 10:30am, and races start at 11:30am.

Summer  2020 Sunday races

During the Covid 19 prevention period the SCYC has temporarily stopped organizing regular Sunday races, however a few private individuals have stepped up and have continued with mostly pursuit races, while still respecting Government virus prevention protocols (i.e. no pre-race skippers meetings, skippers sailing either single handed or with people from within their "bubble").

The pursuit races have proven to be very popular - if you are interested in joining in send us an email and we'll forwarded it to the folks involved.

Winter Series Results

The 2020 Winter Series was completed on Sunday, March 15 with 7 races run, and a very good turnout of boats.

The Series winner was Aura (Tanzer 26), skippered by Ignacio Vulliez, with 2nd Namba (C&C39), skipper Mark Evans, and 3rd Slopalong Placidly (Soling), skipper Peter Heiberg. Well done all.

The first boat home was Topless, skippered by Bob Armstrong, and results on handicap were:

Here is a photo of the trophy being presented by David Sverre to winner, Ignacio, who once again showed us how well he can sail his 26' Tanzer single handed!
